At Colonial Parking, we often talk about the benefits of being a local company: a better understanding of local events and opportunities; extraordinary knowledge of markets, sub-markets and street corners; the ability to physically address an issue within minutes…the list goes on and on. However, one thing we do not talk about as much is the constant monitoring of potential impacts to our market, our industry and our clients’ assets.

Whether it be infrastructure changes (like the new introduction of tolling on Route 66 and the potential shutdown of the Memorial Bridge), the impact of new accounting rule changes to lease accounting, or legislation related to minimum wage increases or paid family leave, Colonial constantly is looking ahead at how any change, whether large or small, will affect the parking industry in the region.

From the business side, we monitor trends in commuter behavior (for instance, the rise of telework, or the impact of the Metro’s current SafeTrack work) to analyze and predict their influence on parking in the area. Then we act to see how we can offset any possible effects that will arise.

Colonial Parking’s view is not simply to the near future, either. While we do our best to anticipate the continued impact that ride sharing (like Uber and Lyft) are having, we are also going further than that to the potential impact that autonomous vehicles will have. It is this farsightedness, both on a local and global scale, that ensures your assets are in trusted hands.

The parking industry, like the world around it, is constantly changing and evolving. But with Colonial Parking as your partner, these changes will never be a surprise and will always be accounted for before they hit. Simply put, we will always strive to be ahead of whatever is coming and we are bringing our clients with us.
