People, People, People
As parking providers, we know it takes a lot of different hats to manage a garage. However, the most important aspect of what we do is field the best team to service our patrons and your assets.

“When we place someone into a parking facility or at our headquarters, we understand we’re doing so on behalf of our clients. Every time we bring someone new on-board, we know our integrity is on the line,” explains Human Resources Director, Carla S. “We’re telling our clients, ‘We trust this person. You should, too’ and we don’t take that lightly. That is why we’re dedicated to investing in the merits of our employees and their professional growth.”

Longevity
We take great pride in the longevity of our employees’ tenure and their loyalty to Colonial Parking® and we have a lot of examples.

There’s Carol K., who’s been in Customer Care for 13 years, and Jack M., who started with us two decades ago in accounting, or Sam S., a shift manager in one of our Rosslyn locations who has been with us since 1970 and knows the name of every one of his 247 monthly account parkers and most of his daily parkers.

Sometimes staffing can be a family affair. Leavelle C. started with Colonial® 37 years ago in our IT department working with our, in its day, ultra-modern punch card system. Today, Leavelle is the Director of Development Services and handles revenue enhancing projects large and small for both new construction and existing facilities. Enter Terrelle C., Leavelle’s son, who remembers “sitting at [his] father’s drafting table… doing homework after school.” Terrelle is now in his 14th year at Colonial Parking. As a Business Analyst, he creates complex reporting queries and infrastructures for our data warehouse that enable the company to make high level, data based decisions in order to maximize revenue.

Results
The confidence and trust we place in our employees is evident in the reactions of our customers and clients.

One customer, Kathy W., wrote, “It’s employees like Sophie and Genene that make me seek out a Colonial garage.” She signed her letter “Kathy (a Colonial parker for life!).”

Sometimes we win awards. Our team at Children’s National Medical Center recently won the “Children’s National Power of One Award” recognizing excellence, due to a letter from a patient’s grandmother that praised the attendants for their compassion and professionalism, comparing the service she received to that of a 5-star hotel. We receive these praises regularly, from long, detailed letters to the simple “Thank you…You and your team are always so helpful” of a client email.

Our strong, reliable and faithful employees really make the Colonial Parking story. For over 50 years, the strength of our team has been the strength of our brand and our trust in them is what grants us the certainty to manage your facilities with confidence and pride.
