Challenge
In 2007, a long-time Client acquired the Washington Nationals and commissioned Colonial Parking® to expertly manage the new ballpark’s two garages. The project was Colonial’s first stadium, and we faced a steep learning curve to plan for all logistical details before Opening Day. In the time since, we have become a trusted expert in sporting event parking and continue to refine our approach and improve operations.
Approach
To ensure our team hit the ground running, Colonial needed the right leadership in place from day one. We strategically hired an industry expert in stadium parking to lead the charge, and he still leads our Nationals Park team and has developed his long-term staff to become experts, as well.
To strategically plan for the myriad of challenges, including traffic flow, weather, and safety concerns, Colonial has developed, implemented, and refined detailed and dynamic plans around circulation, labor, and special customer service considerations that may arise.
Providing superior customer service is of the utmost importance to create a lasting positive impression and encourage fans to return. On game day, our friendly attendants greet drivers and direct them to available parking, utilizing handheld devices that monitor capacity and space availability.
Result
Once a novice in the field of stadium parking, Colonial is entering our 12th season with the Nationals. Our success is best demonstrated through this long-term relationship and our expansion into additional facilities serving other local sports teams and large-scale events.
