You may have noticed that the parking industry has changed dramatically in recent years. Five years ago, less than 10% of Colonial locations were automated. Today, that number has risen to 60% and with this rise comes a decreased need for labor within locations. At the same time, our clients still want the assurance of having a watchful eye on-site to assist customers and look over their parking asset. Where previously having both wasn’t possible, Remote Management Centers offer clients the option of 24/7 site management, while also cutting back on labor costs.

With state-of-the-art technology, Remote Management Centers allow garage oversight using software that integrates into currently existing parking systems, like Skidata, Amano, TIBA and WPS. Through IP intercoms and cameras at each point of customer contact, parkers can be assisted remotely with just the push of a button. These cameras can also monitor vehicle traffic and additional points within the facility, adding an extra level of service to each garage.

Colonial Parking’s Remote Management Center (RMC) manages 110 facilities in the Washington, DC metro area with a dedicated staff that is available 24/7/365, rain, shine or blizzard. Colonial Senior Operations Manager, Steven Kopelman, has said of the RMC “I have several high volume, remotely managed facilities in my portfolio. When customers notify the RMC of equipment issues, the RMC notifies me promptly, minimizing downtime and maximizing revenue.” Rebecca Lee, one of Colonial’s seasoned Remote Management Center associates, added “The best part is, we’re local, not two time zones away. Many of us are DC natives so we’re familiar with the area and we regularly visit the sites we support so we can have a better understanding of what our customers experience.” Solutions like these are what is driving the parking industry forward and Colonial is proud to be able to offer a service that meets the needs of our clients, while also keeping true to our high standards of customer service.
